the dworkinian concept's interesting, esp. in light of my university's current rumours of banning non-veg entirely (in the mess for dinner on Fridays' and in the coffe day kiosk inside the hostel premises).all as per the director's decree.mayhem's bound to break loose.it'll be interesting for the vegans to watch too.

that said,in re Manav's post:is frivolity really the only premise behind the pink chaddi campaign? wasn't it in fact a non-violent way to express A)disgust for Muthalik and his henchmen by sending..*shudder* an underwear. and B)steely feminism ensconced in a kindred all emcompassing pink spirit.see:the Armstrong wrist bands that were pink for breast cancer.

those spearheading the campaign were also faced with their gmail services being mysteriously barred.not exactly devoid of seriousness this then,no?

even if one chooses to ignore all of above,I don't see how other protests that were carried out all over the country can be ignored.thus showing that the pink chaddi campaign wasn't the only way we chose to react.Delhi's university march presided over by authors, journalists, poets and such like who read out excerpts on freedom by Margaret Atwood,Gandhi,M.Luther King to name a few.The protest marches in Chandigarh by students of a women's college.and this I know inspite of being ignorant and not googling.so there must be more examples.

a cursory glance at the pink chaddi official blog site will show how the sending of pink chaddis is but an infinitesimally small face of a much larger movement.this unlike any other 'serious' step has piqued minds like no other and got women to speak up and discuss matters that they themselves don't take as being frivolous.ohno.the poster campaigns, meetings, information of procedural aspects:all hallmarks of a 'serious' fight back I'd like to think.

so,calling the pink chaddi campaign frivolous only because its a funny sounding name, tends to make a first timer smile/laugh,doesn't take away from its seriousness.is a covert ploy in the eyes of those who don't choose to dig below the surface if anything actually:).
