The strike at HNLU
This may be considered as a show of solidarity and support for the ongoing strike at HNLU.

From Revive HNLU
The students here are on an indefinite strike demanding the resignation or removal of the Vice Chancellor. The decision to resort to strike was necessitated by the apathy shown to the student community by the Executive Council of the University which met on Monday (9th March 2009). The student representatives had appraised the Executive Council of the situation in the university for the last four and a half years, to which the Council did not respond.
The reasons which prompted the students to resort to such an extreme measure are many. The University currently operates from a temporary make shift campus. Every batch that has been admitted to the University in the last six years of its existence had been promised that the new campus would be ready within a year. Two batches of this university have passed out and third batch passes out in another month without this promise materializing. Students have resigned to the fact that the temporary campus from which the University operates presently has become a permanent campus. The facilities in the present campus were intended for 2-3 batches. Despite the fact that 8 batches have walked the corridors of this university the facilities have not been augmented. There is a dearth of basic amenities including library and computer facilities in the University. The State Government has sanctioned the requisite money for the construction of the new campus. The requests of students for clarification, at various points of time in the last four and a half years as regards a deadline for the construction of the new campus and the reasons for the delay have been blatantly evaded by the present administration. The Prospectus issued to solicit admission for the next academic session fails to clarify that the new campus described therein has not been completed and that the University is currently operating from a temporary campus. This can indicate only the inefficiency and insincerity on part of the present Administration. Moreover, it is to be believed that a dispute with Nagarjuna Constructions has arisen (as represented by the engineers of the Nagarjuna Builders), and consequently, there is a standstill as regards the construction. The Administration has refused to clarify anything in this regard………….
