Stories from Sudan

Beginning next week, visitors to SATL will get to know more about one of the world’s most trouble-stricken and impoverished regions – Sudan. Follow Sophia Dawkins, currently a student (MALD) at the Fletcher School of Law & Diplomacy, as she shares her experience  ‘from the field’. Currently interning with an international NGO, Sophia is based in the Abyei region, one of the contentious Three Areas under the 2004 Comprehensive Peace Agreement. She is working on a project to integrate two governance programs: one conducts civic engagement activities; the other builds local government capacity. The project is a part of the multifaceted approach to address humanitarian concerns in Sudan. The prospect of receiving first-hand accounts from a place that has constantly nagged the international conscience is thrilling- we are excited to have Sophia on board!
